No School Monday
I hope you continue to enjoy the long weekend!
Spanish field trip Tuesday
The Spanish class will go on a field trip to a local Mexican restaurant Wednesday. Please remember to send field trip forms and cash payment on Tuesday.
Writing Outside this Thursday
Thursday we will spend some more time writing outside the school. 7th graders should wear jeans and maybe bring a rain coat or old sweatshirt to sit on so that they can settle comfortably into their outdoor writing.
Parent Evening this Thursday (Feb. 18)
A reminder that we’ll have our parent evening this Thursday Feb. 18, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. We’ll be exploring how we navigate the digital world with “tweens," previewing our upcoming "Coming of Age and Human Sexuality" block -- and looking ahead to our play, camping trip and possible sports opportunities. I will have some tea and hot water available; please bring a mug if you'd like to enjoy a hot drink while we talk.
Homework Help on Wednesdays – starting this week!
Our 7th grade student council will start their homework help sessions this Wednesday from 3:30 to 4. Cody, Maya, Rain, Reese, and Sully will be helping with this every week – with Bella and Amy participating periodically too. If you are parent to one of these volunteers remember to arrive to the school by no later than 4 p.m. so that Jackie (Maya’s mom and our parent supervisor for this) doesn’t have to stay late. You’ll need to park and come in to pick up your 7th grader from the multipurpose room downstairs (just past the front desk). Once a month two of our volunteers will likely miss homework help for the maiden circle program, but we’ll try to fill in this gap.
Physics Block Grades (along with block tests and main lesson book rubrics) went home on Friday. Please look these over, sign, and return them. You can also take a look at your 7th grader’s electricity essay (in response to a practice PARCC prompt) in their Google Docs account if you like.
Henry’s Class Report
On Monday Sue Miller came into class and talked about her job and how hard writing can be. We worked on revising our poems or odes. In German we talked about book genera and in woodworking we worked on our tops.
On Tuesday we received The Midwife’s apprentice for our new classroom reader. In math we worked in the worksheets we received on Monday. In choir we started a new song. In art we made origami cranes for valentines.
On Wednesday we finished a sheet in math and skipped gardening for recess. We had a guest poetry teacher for main lesson. In German we read a skit. In handwork we talked about the play. In cyber civics we filled out a sheet about making a website.
On Thursday we had a math quiz and study hall. In main lesson we wrote sonnets or poems inspired by paintings. Instead of music we had an assembly and performed a song on our recorders.
