Thank you to all of you made it out to our parent evening and to Ms. Zak for sharing her knowledge as a counselor. We have so many exciting things planned for our final year together, including a service learning project, a new rhythm for learning and sharing about current events in our world, a biography project (in October), a high school/career research project and some exciting end of year class trips. (If you missed the parent evening and would like the notes from my agenda, please send me an e-mail.) I had to leave early Friday, so we have a Monday-Thursday class report to share from Maddi, our first class reporter for the year. We have already launched into our first block: Meteorology and Physics I (Fluid Mechanics and Aeromechanics). Have your 8th grader identify some clouds for you this weekend!
Maddi’s Class Report
We started off Monday with a rose ceremony and we put our desks in a circle and we did a movement game called Ah So Koh. We created a classroom constitution to act as guidelines for classroom behavior. On Tuesday we had choir and we had it with the 6th, 7th and 8th grade classes, and we started reading a book called A Single Shard. On Wednesday we had our first explorations and we had our first recorder class. We also observed the clouds, which was kind of hard because it was super rainy. While we were outside we saw nimbostratus clouds. On Thursday we made barometers using tin cans and balloons.
