It was wonderful to see many of you at our parent evening, where we enjoyed hearing about math and gardening from Ms. Swigris and handwork and woodworking from Ms. Albert. We have such phenomenal specials teachers at our school. Our time together at the parent evening was short so I didn't get to fully discuss our main lesson block plan for the year. You will find it attached here (as well as in the communications section of the binder). You'll notice that we have our human sexuality block coming up in November. We had a parent evening last January on the subject of opening communication on topics relating to human growth and development, puberty and sexuality with your son/daughter and thinking of yourself as the first teacher for them on these topics -- someone they can turn to whenever they have a question. I hope that you will continue to have honest conversations with your 7th graders as questions and experiences arise for them around everything from navigating friendships in middle school to understanding the changes they're experiencing in their bodies and minds as they mature. I look forward to beginning to have these conversations as a group as well. Let me know if you have concerns or questions about these subjects or anything else as we journey through this year together.
A simple need: Please send in rinsed quart jars (or spaghetti sauce jars) if you have any on hand or in your recycling. We need to set up our upstairs painting cart and need some rinse jars.
